Our celebration of Italy Unity: a trip to Turin, first capital of Italy..

On the 26th May, we went on a schooltrip to Turin, because our class won the first prize for the celebration of the Anniversary of the 150 years of Italy Unity.
The Province of La Spezia offered us a one day-trip to Turin, first capital of Italy. We visited “la Venaria Reale”, a Royal Palace for hunting and leisure of Savoy Kings. The gardens are ancient in conception but contemporary in the project. We saw the Fountain of Hercules and the Flower Garden. At midday, we saw a show of waterworks and music at the Fountain of the Stag.

In the afternoon, we visited the Piano Nobile of the Court and an extraordinary exhibition named “La Bella Italia”, a sort of history of Italian Risorgimento through the works of art of the most famous artists in the world (Rubens, Giotto, Botticelli, Canova, Donatello, Cellini, Leonardo Da Vinci, Tiziano, Parmigianino, Masaccio,..).

Then, we visited some rooms of the court as the Hall of Diana, the apartament of the Duke and the great gallery: this is really wonderful!
At the end of the visit, we went to Turin and we saw Palazzo Madama and Palazzo Reale. It has been really a unique experience because Turin had a lot of Italian tricolours everywhere as when Italy gained its Unity.
